ArtiXon is a dexterous tactile-sensory robotic hand developed by X Square Robot, a Chinese embodied AI robotics startup founded in late 2023 and backed by Alibaba and HongShan Capital. Featuring 20 degrees of freedom across 15 actuators, it mimics the full motion range of a human hand including pinching, grasping, and twisting, with sub-millimeter repeatability and high-frequency real-time control. ArtiXon is integrated into X Square Robot's wheeled humanoid platforms (Quanta X1 and X2) and is designed for service, household, and industrial manipulation tasks requiring fine dexterity.

Race for the robot ‘brain’: China’s embodied AI funding surges fivefold in H1 - 联合早报
Feather Robotics Inc., a startup based in East Palo Alto, CA, has launched a humanoid robot called Feather with a starting price of $29,990. The two-armed mobile humanoid is designed as an open platform for physical AI, with each arm offering seven degrees of freedom, omnidirectional wheeled base, 10 hours of battery life, and an open SDK. Unlike competitors such as Figure, Tesla, Unitree, Agibot, and 1X that build both humanoid bodies and AI foundation models, Feather offers only the body, letting customers run models from Nvidia, Skild, or Physical Intelligence on it.
Boston Dynamics unveiled a new four-finger hand for its Atlas humanoid robot, featuring 13 degrees of freedom including a four-DOF opposable thumb and dense tactile pressure sensors. The design was optimized for complex manipulation tasks such as in-hand object reorientation, slip recovery, and tool operation including drills, grinders, and welding torches. The company deliberately chose four fingers over a five-finger human-like hand to reduce cost, size, and failure points while maintaining the dexterity needed for industrial work.
