Two major Texas-based airlines, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, have implemented bans on humanoid and animal-like robots as passengers following two incidents in May where such robots attempted to board flights. The policies prohibit these robots from sitting in purchased seats, being stored in overhead bins, or traveling as checked baggage, citing safety concerns over lithium-ion batteries that can overheat, catch fire, or explode on airplanes.
