UBTECH Robotics and FAW Volkswagen have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop and test humanoid robots for industrial factory logistics in automotive manufacturing. The collaboration builds on preliminary trials of UBTECH's Walker S series at FAW Volkswagen's Qingdao assembly plant, where the robots were evaluated for vehicle quality control, bolt tightening, and component assembly, and now expands to internal supply chain operations including material transport, inventory sorting, and workstation replenishment.
UBTECH opened a 14,000-square-meter humanoid robot factory in Liuzhou, China achieving a 10-minute takt time for its Walker S2 industrial robots, while the US FCC banned new imports of Chinese humanoid robots citing cybersecurity and national security concerns under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act. Chinese companies accounted for 97 percent of global humanoid shipments in H1 2026, with UBTECH targeting 5,000 robots in 2026 and 10,000 in 2027.
