Neubility unveiled its semi-humanoid robot 'Billy' at an event in Seoul, aiming to become the fastest-to-commercialize humanoid in South Korea. Billy features a robotic upper body on a four-wheel drive base, with 16 degrees of freedom, five-fingered hands, and 360-degree upper-body rotation, and is set for proof-of-concept testing at four companies including CJ CheilJedang, with deployment of several hundred units targeted within one to two years.
The Seoul government is moving to ease regulatory barriers preventing the deployment of robots in apartment complexes through a proposed special law. The new rules would allow robots to perform tasks like sweeping, delivering packages to residents, and parking cars. The move aims to support the commercialization of robotics in South Korea by relaxing building and parking regulations that have slowed adoption.
