Mecka AI closed a $60 million Series A round led by Sequoia Capital to scale its crowdsourced platform that pays people to record themselves performing everyday tasks, converting the footage into motion datasets for training humanoid robots. The startup has processed over 10 million hours of human motion data since launching 18 months ago and plans to use the funding to expand its global contributor network and data processing pipelines. The raise comes amid intensifying competition in robotics training data from Scale AI and Anthropic, as humanoid robot commercialization efforts from Tesla and Boston Dynamics drive demand for real-world behavioral data.
Mecka has raised a $60 million Series B led by Sequoia Capital, with Nvidia, Microsoft M12, Qualcomm Ventures and Samsung joining as new investors. The company builds capture hardware and processes human demonstrations into structured motion and 3D data for robot model training, and also offers robot integration, on-site data collection, model training and ongoing operation. Mecka reports passing a $100M revenue run rate in June and projects $300M by year-end, though the announcement does not disclose a valuation or name major customers.
Mecka AI has raised $60 million in Series B funding led by Sequoia Capital, with backing from Nvidia, Microsoft’s M12 and Qualcomm, as it builds technology to help robots understand and operate in the physical world. CEO and cofounder Josh Gao discusses the enormous data challenge facing robotics, how Mecka captures everything from physical interactions to force and pressure, and why scaling physical AI will require major investments across sensors, infrastructure and real-world data collection. He joins Ed Ludlow on "Bloomberg Tech." (Source: Bloomberg)
