Robbyant R1 is a wheeled humanoid robot developed by Shanghai Ant Lingbo Technology Co., Ltd. (Robbyant), a subsidiary of Ant Group (Alibaba affiliate). Standing 1.6–1.75 m tall, weighing 110 kg, and featuring 34 degrees of freedom, it moves at up to 1.5 m/s. Powered by Ant's proprietary LingBot AI foundation model for end-to-end task planning, R1 is designed for service environments including guided tours, pharmaceutical sorting, medical consultations, and customer service. Already in mass production with deployments at the Shanghai History Museum.

China's Unitree Robotics completed a massively oversubscribed IPO raising 6.1 billion yuan, becoming the first mainland China humanoid robot maker to list, as Beijing signals its push to industrialize embodied AI technology. Despite strong investor enthusiasm with a valuation hitting 445 billion yuan on debut, industry experts acknowledge that current robots still lag humans in task efficiency and adaptability, with the sector needing to prove commercial viability beyond flashy demonstrations.
Ant Group led a Series A financing for Juqiao Industrial. Juqiao Industrial's electronic skin technology is positioned to capitalize on opportunities in humanoid robotics.
Robbyant says 15 teams will advance to a November 14–16 Shanghai final of its inaugural Embodied AI Challenge, where they will adapt models to AgileX Robotics' Cobot Magic during a 48-hour physical-robot hackathon. More than 1,800 teams from 13 countries registered, but qualifying submissions remain under review. Final tasks, scoring criteria, robot and training-data access, baseline comparisons, and publication of results have not yet been finalized.
