Beijing-based Galbot showcased humanoid robots at the opening ceremony of the Second World Humanoid Robot Games, where they completed more than 100 consecutive autonomous tennis rallies. The robots tracked high-speed balls in real time, executed various tennis strokes, partnered with human champions in doubles, and recovered from balance loss without external assistance. The demonstration builds on earlier Galbot research on autonomous tennis control covered by Thomas Insights in April 2026, highlighting adaptability as the key industrial relevance.
At Seoul's Smart Life Week 2026, the Seoul AI Robot Show at Coex showcased AI robots designed to coexist with humans in everyday life. Companies including Galbot, Raion Robotics, Hyundai Motor, Kia's Robotics Lab, LG CNS, and Doosan Robotics presented humanoid household robots, quadrupedal rough-terrain robots, and emergency response robots. The event also featured demonstrations of AI-integrated urban zones across Seoul and Level 4 autonomous mobility concepts.
Global humanoid robot shipments surged 432% YoY in H1 2026, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for roughly 78% of global volume according to IDC data. Agibot surpassed Unitree Robotics to claim the global No. 1 position with 8,600+ units shipped, while Unitree followed at approximately 5,900 units; together the two Chinese firms hold more than half of the global market. IDC also raised its 2030 global shipment forecast by about 50% to more than 750,000 units as application scenarios diversify beyond research and education into industrial manufacturing, logistics, and consumer markets.
