The PR2 (Personal Robot 2) is a mobile manipulation research robot developed by Willow Garage, first delivered to leading research institutions in May 2010 and commercially available for $400,000 starting September 2010. It features a wheeled omnidirectional base, telescoping torso adjustable from 1.33 m to 1.645 m, two 7-DoF arms with continuous-axis wrists, and a sensor suite including stereo cameras, a Microsoft Kinect, and a 5-megapixel camera. The PR2 was instrumental in the development of ROS (Robot Operating System) and was discontinued after Willow Garage shut down; Clearpath Robotics later released all design files as open source.
