Evan Ackerman's Video Friday roundup leads with a Robotics and AI Institute demonstration of Spot's whole-body manipulation, noting that direct torso involvement is hard to discern. It also collects videos of ETH Zurich humanoid locomotion research, Reachy Mini racing Microduck, monkeyBot 2.0 pipe climbing, ANYmal X, a LimX Dynamics tennis robot, DEEPRobotics machines, MonoRace drone racing, and the amphibious SAWbot; no funding is discussed.
ANYbotics launched and began delivering the ANYmal X, a quadruped inspection robot certified for explosive atmospheres under ATEX and IECEx. It combines autonomous navigation and Shift-based industrial AI with thermal, visual, acoustic, and gas sensing and has been tested by major energy and chemical companies. ANYbotics is positioning it as a complete hazardous-area inspection system capable of converting findings directly into maintenance work orders.
ANYbotics has launched Shift, a software platform that unifies plant mapping, robot fleet management, inspection AI analytics, and integration with enterprise systems like SAP, IBM Maximo, GE Vernova APM, Cognite, and Oracle. Shift is already deployed across more than 200 robot installations processing hundreds of thousands of inspections monthly, with reported savings such as $3.5 million at Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The company plans to expand the platform beyond its own ANYmal quadruped robots to support third-party robotic systems.
