The OriHime-D is an avatar telepresence robot developed by OryLab Inc. (Japan), standing approximately 120 cm tall. It features 14 motorized joints in the upper body, omnidirectional wheels for movement, and is equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker for remote communication. The robot is designed to allow people with disabilities, illnesses, or those unable to leave their homes to perform physical work tasks remotely — such as serving customers at a cafe or carrying items. It is operated via the internet and can also be controlled by users with limited mobility using the OriHime eye + Switch eye-tracking device. The robot is deployed at the Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN in Tokyo, Japan, where remote pilots with disabilities work as baristas and service staff.
