Aldebaran Robotics, founded in Paris in 2005, created the NAO and Pepper humanoid robots, two of the most widely deployed social and educational humanoids in the world. NAO, a 58-cm bipedal platform used in research labs and classrooms across more than 70 countries, remains one of the most cited robots in humanoid robotics research, while Pepper served retail and customer-facing roles. The company is currently owned by United Robotics Group following its 2022 reacquisition from SoftBank.
