Jibo was a social robotics company founded by MIT roboticist Cynthia Breazeal, creator of the Jibo consumer social robot—a tabletop companion robot featuring an animated LCD face display, expressive movements, and voice interaction designed for family use. Launched through a high-profile 2014 crowdfunding campaign, Jibo became an early benchmark for consumer-oriented social robots before the company filed for bankruptcy in 2018. Its IP assets were subsequently acquired by NTT Disruption, and the original hardware is no longer commercially available.
